Following the Diwali celebrations, the children and adults of SCVP North London convened again to peacefully celebrate the festival of Gyan Pancham. The children recited prayers and gave presentations highlighting the importance of spiritual knowledge in our lives. With heartfelt feelings, everyone offered their respect and gratitude to all the tirthankaras, acharyas, highly elevated souls and teachers for providing us with the knowledge and for ensuring that this knowledge has been written and passed down the ages giving us all an opportunity to learn the beautiful teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir.
The learning points and how to implement them in our lives were then explained with take home messages:
- Make every effort to learn through reading and listening.
- Take every opportunity to support those who are underprivileged to do the same.
- Be humble and do not be afraid to ask questions – our knowledge improves by asking questions.
- When learning, be humble, listen carefully to your teacher without being distracted.
- What knowledge you gain use wisely and do not misuse. This can have far-reaching consequences for yourself and others.
- Share your knowledge with others (but do not plagiarise) and always acknowledge those who gave the knowledge to you.
- Use your knowledge and skills rather than hide them.
The children and parents then did the poojan of the scriptures and the event concluded with a beautiful recitation of Bruhat Shanti.
We are all truly grateful for the grace and blessings of Pujya Tai Ma and Sadhvi Shri Shilapiji, who continually guide us so as to enable us to progress our learning and walk on this beautiful path.
