The fourth Volunteering Programme organised by Veerayatan Global - aimed at giving young people an opportunity to volunteer their time in undertaking Veerayatan’s mission of Seva (service), Shiksha (education) and Sadhana (spirituality) – will commence on 26 July for a fortnight at the Veerayatan Rajgir Centre. Twenty-seven volunteers from the UK, Kenya and USA, aged between 15 and 23 years old, will spend time getting to know the children in the Veerayatan schools through a combination of teaching, exchanging cultures, learning new games and developing friendships. They will also spend time at the Netra Jyoti Seva Mandiram eye hospital in Rajgir learning how to check vision, helping the doctors and technicians and performing public health initiatives at schools such as checking vision, how to brush teeth and talking about the importance of hand hygiene.
Veerayatan is looking forward to welcoming this dynamic group of volunteers! This life transforming experience is summed up very beautifully by one of the past volunteers:
I now understand the incredible vision of Pujya Tai Ma. As we were driving to Bodhgaya, amidst the beautiful surroundings, there were these small villages just made from mud. I saw a grandfather and a little boy and I thought to myself that this little child’s life will be no different from the life of his grandfather. And this is when I really understood the vision of Pujya Tai Ma in changing this vicious cycle. Until now I had heard about the great work of Pujya Tai Ma but today her work has impacted me…
