Shri Chandana Vidyapeeth Jain School North London (SCVP) celebrated Parents Evening 2024 by giving an opportunity for all the parents to see and hear about the learning that their children have been doing in Jain classes. The children aged from 5 years onwards were proud to showcase everything they have learnt throughout the year, whether it is conducting a short meditation session, reciting stories and summarising the moral values or talking about a value and how they have imbibed this in their lives. Around 97 people including students, teachers, committee members and parents attended this year’s parents evening, whether online or in person.
Parents were happy with the work of SCVP in inspiring children and imbibing values taught by Bhagwan Mahavir. One parent’s quote sums up beautifully the sentiments of parents:
Ella particularly enjoys stories about the Tirthankars and people who have lived the true Jain values. The activities are really well thought out and Ella really enjoys the class and the homework. Making the Jain values practical in everyday life is particularly valuable. Really nice that looking after the environment was brought in. The teachers are fantastic, very patient and caring. Thank you so much for all of the effort.
The school also runs an adult sutra class where prayers are taught. One of the learners stated:
Since attending Adult Sutra class, my understanding, knowledge and pronunciation of sutras have vastly improved. I look forward to attending my weekly class.
The Mayor of Harrow also took time out of his busy schedule to come and learn about and support the work done by Veerayatan UK for our community. During his visit, he met and engaged with the adults and children of SCVP. His presence was inspiring and created a positive impact within the school.
